Project description: This resilience project will help Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust build its medium to long-term resilience, undertaking four specific areas of work in order to secure a sustainable future.

Repairing our Round Tower Church

Applicant: THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL OF THE ECCLESIASTICAL PARISH OF THE MARDYKE TEAM MINISTRY

Project description: To deliver the first phase of the repair works required to remove the Grade I listed St Nicholas of Myra Church in South Ockendon, Essex, from the Heritage at Risk Register. The project will also engage the community through an activity plan.

Project description: To add to a series of public murals located across Great Yarmouth, drawing on the town's rich heritage.

Project description: To work with under-served junior school students to develop extra-curricular learning and skills in local history studies on the local history of Luton, in collaboration with the University of Bedfordshire Heritage Skills Hub.

Project description: This project will look to boost children's engagement with nature by providing three garden areas within the school’s grounds to develop their understanding, sense of responsibility and engagement with the natural world.

Oral History project for the Women's institute in Nuneaton & Bedworth District (Anker Group) to increase membership

Applicant: Nuneaton Acorns Women’s Institute

Project description: This project will capture the voices, experiences and history of women who are, and have been, members of the Women's Institute in the Nuneaton/Bedworth area. It intends to celebrate the rich history of the WI since 1915, to dispel myths such as "Jam & Jerusalem," and to illustrate the WI as an organisation which is inclusive, progressive and open to all women.

Project description: This project will deliver theatrical performances at National Trust properties Upton House and Attingham Park. It intends to work with young people from diverse inner-city areas to connect new people and communities to UK heritage and better understand the concepts of preservation, protection and their connection to wider national stories. Alongside performances there will be activity that continues an exchange of learning between the different communities affected by the play’s themes, including meaningful connections between National Trust volunteers and staff and young people.

Project description: This project will disseminate information and digitise existing content through a new website to engage the wider Cosby community in the cultural, architectural and industrial heritage of the Parish of Cosby and the surrounding area preserving it for the future.

Lady Jane Monson – A Life Revealed

Applicant: The Parochial Church Council of St Johns the Baptist South Carlton, in the Diocese of Lincoln

Project description: This project aims to tell the story and conserve the tomb of Lady Jane Monson in this Grade I listed church in South Carlton, Lincolnshire. Lady Jane and her husband, Lord John, were major landowners in Lincolnshire during the late 16th and early 17th century, a time of social and political upheaval which had great ramifications for her and the Monson family. The tomb will be made safe and re-opened to the public. Its history will be researched and celebrated in conjunction with local partners and young people. 

Decision: Award grant of £9,457 (22%)

Our Place in Time Printmaking Project (final year)

Applicant: Oyster Community Press CIC

Project description: Year three of a project to work with GCSE art students from local schools to learn printmaking techniques which they can use to make a large, pictorial wall hanging, about events they choose to record, that happened in the previous year.

ER Mason Youth Centre 60th Anniversary Heritage Project

Project description: This intergenerational project will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the ER Mason Youth Centre through workshops, capturing oral histories, exhibitions and events.

Meer Common and Pond Restoration Project

Applicant: The Green Group

Project description: To help restore Mere Pond and Pond, a rare 20,000 year old Ice Age Pond, which are at risk of loss, and implement a woodland management plan.

Restoration and interpretation at How Caple Church, Herefordshire

Applicant: PCC of How Caple

Project description: To restore the Royal coat of arms of William III, dating from between 1695 and 1702 and provide interpretation for the Grade II* listed church of St Andrew with St Mary. The arms are thought to have been carved by the renowned Grinling Gibbons, and are at risk of further deterioration and loss.

Decision: Award grant of £10,000 (61%)

Fromus, our river, our past, our future.

Applicant: Saxmundham Art Station

Project description: This project will bring the local community together to explore the heritage of the River Fromus, carrying out habitat restoration, activities and citizen science recording along this small river that has played an integral part in the history of the historic market town Saxmundham, in rural Suffolk.

Decision: Award grant of £10,000 (61%)

Lisel Haas, a life story uncovered

Applicant: Bertz Associates LTD

Project description: This first phase project will work in partnership with Birmingham Library to uncover and celebrate the life of Lisel Haas, a German-Jewish emigre photographer who settled in Moseley, Birmingham, in 1938 and lived in the UK until her death in 1989. It will review a photographic collection of 70 boxes of uncatalogued material, from 1938 to 1989. Haas's collection documents how women, and women of migrant backgrounds, made significant contributions to Birmingham’s development and social and artistic progression. 

Decision: Award grant of £9,940 (100%)

Growing Heritage

Applicant: Family Action

Project description: This project will integrate and embed a ‘living heritage’ approach within Family Action's ESCAPE Community Allotment and Orchard in Swaffham to ensure that local rural heritage is passed onto future generations. It aims to empower people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to take on responsibility for the continuation of traditional rural skills and practices, and to share these with others in their local community.

Decision: Award grant of £9,973 (100%)

A historic look at our Shrine of Our Lady

Applicant: Walsingham Trust

Project description: This start-up, resilience project looks at restoring historic artefacts from amongst the Grade I and II listed buildings at the shrine, as well as making them available to wider audiences. It plans to widen engagement in the site, through consultation with partners and working with other local sites.

Decision: Award grant of £9,800 (100%)

After the Partition – A Shared Cultural Heritage in Essex

Applicant: Essex Cultural Diversity Project Ltd

Project description: To capture the memories of Sikh, Hindu and (Pakistani) Muslim communities living in Essex after the Partition of India, reflecting on their family experiences, challenges, successes and the social change experienced from 1947 to today. It will involve oral history recording and archiving at Essex Record Office, creating a film, exhibition and community sharing event.

Mendlesham Heritage Fair – Reconnecting the Community with its unique Tudor Heritage

Project description: This project involves research activities at the Hold about some newly discovered Tudor documents within the Grade I listed St Mary's Church. It will celebrate and explore Tudor history through a community event and build interest, skills and engagement in a larger, subsequent project about the church’s Tudor Armoury.
