Our Suffolk coast in 90 seconds!
The film is the brainchild of Touching the Tide, a project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) that promotes understanding of our ever-changing local coastline. The film showcases the marvels and unique features of the Suffolk coast as well as the many events and activities that make up Touching the Tide. The film can be viewed on the project's Vimeo page.
Kate Osborne, Touching the Tide Project Officer, said: “This gorgeous video shares our passion about the Suffolk coastline and achieves it in a minute and a half. We want as many people as possible to benefit from what the Touching the Tide project offers. Whether it’s art, military history, archaeology, geology, our unique Suffolk shingle or its wildlife, the project really does have something to inspire everyone.”
“Lots of people love this area and visiting the seaside is always fun,” said Bill Jenman, Touching the Tide Project Manager. “We’re halfway through our three years now, and we hope that this film inspires even more people to get out and discover what this amazing project can offer them. Our coast is surprisingly fragile – we’re trying to make sure it’s just as special for the next generation.”
Suffolk-based Green Spark Productions, which made the film, is a creative media and event production agency focused on generating dialogue between organisations and its stakeholders. Reb Capper, animator, said: "Our brief was to create a short video that would engage new audiences, young and old. Rather than use the traditional image and film route, we have created a short tale using characters to bring to life the issues that all of us living near the Suffolk Coast need to think about. Our coast is unique; it is special for so many reasons and we need to view it differently. As a Suffolk company, this project was absorbing and close to our hearts."
