The Grade II* listed Staunton Country Park is on the English Heritage Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. The park is the remnant of the estate of Sir George Staunton, and has been in public ownership since 1944.

The project reinstated the surviving buildings of the estate, along with follies and landscape features. The restoration work has helped to strengthen the distinction between the historic estate and the rest of the park, has revealed historic views, and developed the park as an educational resource.

This project was made up of over 60 separate elements. This included rebuilding a wing to the listed barn building, to provide an educational facility for schools that use the park. Landscape works also restored key buildings and features, including the Chinese Fort, Palladian Bridge and Shellhouse.

These works have enabled the listed buildings on the estate to continue to be used to house the farm and estate animals, demonstrating the original purpose of the buildings.
