Snailbeach Lead Mine is one of a series of mines that make up South Shropshire Orefield.
The mine complex is part of a conservation area and has one of the most complete collection of buildings of any mine in the UK.
This restoration project helped to repair the most significant buildings within this area, presenting them for the public as part of a drive for sustainable tourism in the area. A disused locomotive shed was also refurbished as a visitor centre, designed to display artefacts from the site.
The project significantly improved public access to the Snailbeach site, which was previously limited due to the nature of the site.
