The Friends of Dean Road and Manor Road Cemetery have helped to revive a special part of the local cemetery, which first opened in 1872. They also restored the chapel that used to house the mortuary.
The lasting legacy is a beautiful wild place in the heart of the town, which everyone who discovers it thinks is their special place.

Red Robin trails help younger visitors learn about its history, and recordings of older people’s childhood memories help to span the generations. A wild garden has replaced the rubbish-strewn and overgrown garden and a stone seat, bog garden and pond are enticing people back to the Secret Garden. The re-roofed chapel is being used to store tools for volunteers who maintain this beautiful wild place.
