This project restored the stone steps of St Patrick's Church in Gateshead, re-instating the main access route into the church and the Parish rooms.

St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church is a Grade II listed building in the community of Felling, Gateshead. The stone steps in the main entrance were in a poor condition which threatened the main access to the church and the parish rooms. This area had to be closed because it posed a health and safety risk to users.

The project’s main purpose was to rebuild the stone steps with a better structural support, an appropriate waterproof system and thermal insulation. The project created an electronic book to share the church’s history with the community. A published version has been distributed to local libraries and schools.

Having the main entrance repaired gives access to the building via the intended historical route and the entrance to the parish rooms has been brought up to modern standards.
