National Maritime Museum houses one of the largest and most important maritime collections, set within the former Greenwich Hospital School for Seamen, a complex of Grade I listed buildings.

The Neptune Hall Project focused on building a new roof over the central, Georgian courtyard area of the west and west-central wings of the museum. This involved removing and storing the current Victoria roof, demolishing the Barge House, and installing a new steel and glass structure.

The new hall was designed to create a multi-purpose space, to improve access, visitor facilities, circulation and display of collections.
