Your Heritage
The inhabitants of the 1950s’ council estate – who come from various corners of the globe and the social spectrum – have woven a rich history of personal experiences and those memories are to be shared to help others rediscover the soul of the area.
For generations to come, the colourful history of this diverse community will echo through the years in a specially created book and resource pack. It is the story of the ordinary person that will resonate, showing how a rich variety of people can live and mix together.
Hannah Carey, Project Coordinator, said: “This project has given a collective voice to the experiences of ordinary people in this area of our city. It has created opportunities for current and past residents to share and compare their experiences of living in the same area at different times, under different circumstances and/or at different periods in their lives – groups of people who may not otherwise have met or known of each other.”
