Heritage Grants
Youth charity The Prince’s Trust delivered bespoke outdoor training, responding to an identified skills shortage within the heritage sector, and supporting disadvantaged young people aged 14 to 30 to develop new skills.
Get into… Dry Stone Walling saw the Trust work in partnership with Stockton Riverside College and Groundwork to deliver a new course, developed with advice from the Dry Stone Walling Association and the National Trust. This training was repeated on nine separate occasions with small cohorts of young people.
The Prince's Trust held a series of three taster days per year, which provided information on the course structure and content, along with practical demonstrations. The young people who showed an interest continued on to a four-week vocational training programme. This gave them practical hands-on experience in the field. The young people worked with specialist Dry Stone Walling Association accredited tutors and had the opportunity to gain a LANTRA Level 1 qualification in dry stone walling.
