Sharing Heritage
The project was run by Scottish Geodiversity Forum, a place which brings people and organisations together to promote Scotland’s rare and diverse geology and geoheritage. The organisation provides a number of other services for the public sector including event organisation and advocacy.
The project focused on capturing the 51 best places to see Scotland’s geology. It created and shared information about these sites through a booklet and online resource, and delivered a festival of events across 30 of the sites for a wide range of audiences including young people, local communities and academia.
Families and local communities took part in guided walks across Scotland’s coasts and landscapes. A variety of walks were made available, catering to all abilities.
The project raised awareness of an under-explored aspect of Scotland’s heritage and connected local communities to the geology and natural heritage around them.
