Heritage Grants
The museum is based on a collection of horse-drawn machinery. As well as displaying agricultural equipment, it preserves and demonstrates traditional agricultural, craft and period ‘domestic’ skills. Investment in these traditional skills allows more people to learn about them, helping to keep the skills alive and in production.
The project included providing a much-needed main entrance into the farm site and opening up areas of the museum that were previously difficult to access for some visitors. The new ‘gateway’ building provides a flexible multi-use learning space, offering a resource for visiting school groups, life-long learning activities and temporary exhibitions.
The project also included improvements to the School House café, including reinstating the school room and improvements to the kitchen, enhancing the visitor experience.
