The People's Gallery: A hundred and 10 years of healthcare, hospitals, heritage and healing

Project description: This project will explore the 110 years of the Birmingham City Hospital, saving its built heritage with the relocation of the early 20th century stained-glass windows and creating an exhibition to share the hospital's history.

Focused on developing crochet and knitting skills, the proposal will aim to share the craft's history and local heritage connection with participants.

Masefield Matters, rediscovering the life and work of the writer John Masefield on the 150th anniversary of his birth in Ledbury

Project description: Working with an inclusive and accessible methodology, the project will explore and commemorate Masefield's life, illuminate his legacy and contribute to the heritage of Ledbury.

Project description: This project will repair and maintain the Grade II Stixwould Village Hall and provide accessible facilities.  It will then deliver a heritage engagement plan that will be accessible for all the community and new audiences.

Project description: This project will explore and record the community heritage of Stratford-upon-Avon through a series of events and activities.

Decision: Award grant of £246,841 (91%)

Project description: This project aims to erect a new-build extension to offer accessible facilities at St James the Great Church.

TRDC – Everafter Connect

Project description: This project will add East Lane Cemetery to Three Rivers District Council's new software management system for their cemeteries.

Forncett: A Village of Stories – The Restoration of St Peter's Church

Applicant: The Upper Tas Valley All Saints Parochial Church Council

Project description: This project will undertake urgent repairs to the fabric of St Peter’s Forncett and establish the church as a heritage hub, offering heritage-inspired activities and interpretation. The Grade I listed church is notable for its Saxon round tower of exceptional national significance.

Decision: Award grant increase of £77,182 to make a total grant of £708,644 (90%)

Reawakening St Mary Magdalene, Supporting Newark's Communities

Applicant: The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Newark On Trent St Mary Magdalene with St Leonard

Project description: St Mary Magdalene is a Grade I listed church next to the market square in the heart of Newark, Nottinghamshire. Of national significance, it is similar in scale and size to a small cathedral. The vision is for the church to play a more significant role in the town, be recognised for its heritage significance, and be removed from Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register.

Decision: Award grant increase of £249,000 to make a total grant of £2,814,628 (63%)

Giving the past a future at Creswell Crags

Applicant: Creswell Heritage Trust

Project description: This resilience project will fund staff costs and development work to plan for a sustainable future for the site, aiming to draw increased visitor numbers from target communities in deprived parts of Bolsover and Bassetlaw. The work is based on business planning and audience development work carried out in 2021 with culture recovery funding. The organisation and its heritage are otherwise at risk of insolvency from rising costs and the need for a revised business model.

Decision: Award grant increase of £250,000 to make a total grant of £499,950 (100%)
