Project description: To celebrate Hull Football Club’s history and support vulnerable community members with a memorabilia sharing app, memorabilia donation, intergenerational activities and adult upskilling. 

Decision: Award grant of £164,940 (93%)  

Manchester Dashehra Diwali Heritage 2024 

Applicant: Indian Association Manchester 

Project description: Sharing Dashehra Diwali heritage with families and entrepreneurs across Greater Manchester with storytelling, skill shares, online showcases and a new heritage team. 

Decision: Award grant of £27,700 (91%)  

Finding North East Women in the Liberation Movement 

Applicant: Pink-Collar Gallery C.I.C 

Project description: To research and create 10 displays with the community to discover and commemorate the role of unacknowledged north-eastern women in the Women’s Liberation Movement. 

Decision: Award grant of £22,500 (100%)  

Enhancing Life Through Heritage 

Applicant: The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Mary, Beverley 

Project description: To combine essential building restoration with consultation of the community to enable broader participation with heritage and provide heritage work experience for disadvantaged community members.

Decision: Award grant of £152,348 (93%)

Securing the future of Dryham Farm – The Beating Heart of North Cave Wetlands 

Applicant: Yorkshire Wildlife Trust 

Project description: To purchase Dryham Farm, centred in the North Cave Wetlands, in order to protect the natural heritage and wildlife on its land and prevent other threats to the wetlands from potential new owners. 

Decision: Award grant of £250,000 (35%)  

National Poetry Centre: Connecting poetry's past to its present and future 

Applicant: National Poetry Centre 

Project description: To create the first national headquarters for poetry and rescue a historic building as a base, enabling increased exhibiting, archiving and engagement capabilities. 

Decision: Award grant of £223,066 (100%)  

Brink

Project description: Celebrating the history and positive impact of youth clubs and projects with art, podcasts, interviews, music, photography, graffiti and film to bridge connections across disadvantaged social groups.

Conservation of Owlthorpe Fields

Project description: To improve site accessibility, repair and maintenance, whilst reviving old heritage maintenance skills for interested community members to learn and participate in.

Project description: To demonstrate and showcase best practice in the heritage sector, engage more young people with heritage and produce a strong digital heritage strategy.

SAVTE's Heritage Tapestry: Celebrating 50 Years of Sheffield's Multicultural Heritage 

Applicant: Sheffield Association for the Voluntary Teaching of English 

Project description: To exhibit and host public activities celebrating the narratives and contributions of the association’s volunteers and English learners to Sheffield’s multicultural history.

Beautiful Oldham – Where Next?

Project description: To co-involve the community in the improvement, maintenance, protection and sustainability of the Northern Roots site and broader Oldham, while collecting stories on the heritage most important to them.

Geordie Gaol Girls 

Applicant: Workie Ticket Theatre CiC 

Project description: To create a historically accurate play with diverse groups of local women commemorating the 100th year since Newcastle Gaol’s closure, to convey its enduring impact and tell stories of the female prisoners and staff. 

Decision: Award grant of £46,967 (96%)  

South Pennine Archives Development Project 

Applicant: Pennine Heritage Limited 

Project description: To build a website, digitise collections and create Hebden Bridge’s first museum to improve access, awareness of and engagement with the South Pennine Archives. 

Decision:  Award grant of £54,827 (90%)  

Whitehead Gardens Improvement and Education Project 

Applicant: Bury Borough Council 

Project description: To repair and restore the park, improve its accessibility and begin hosting interactive activities to engage the community more with its nature, wildlife and memorial history.  

Decision: Award grant of £151,993 (88%)  

Ella's Peas 

Applicant: Chol International Arts

Project description: To celebrate the achievements of Ella Hudson-Gaskin for British food manufacturing, teaching history, socioeconomic and environmental issues to children through imaginative play and growing. 

Decision: Award grant of £41,715 (81%)  

Sustaining Soils 

Applicant: Manchester Environmental Education Network 

Project description: To help four inner-city schools understand and improve their soil health, educate on soil’s historical context and importance and empower students lead soil action plans and become community educators. 

Decision: Award grant of £49,720 (100%)  

Revitalisation of Elswick's Garden Cemeteries: The Story of Westgate Hill and St John's 

Applicant: Newcastle City Council 

Project description: To improve and restore their two sites through community engagement, professional surveys and support for caretakers and residents, while developing long-term arts, nature and heritage strategies.

Rocket 2030 

Applicant: Manchester Histories 

Project description: To celebrate the 200th anniversaries of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 2025 and the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 2029/30 through a series of events and initiatives leading up to 2030. 

Decision: Award grant of £180,421 (51%)

The Hatters and the Sharks - Sheffield's Basketball Pioneers 

Applicant: Sharks Basketball Trust CIC 

Project description: To uncover and share the heritage of the Sheffield Hatters and Sheffield Sharks through various mediums and to embed this heritage in all aspects of the clubs’ activities and outreach. 

Decision: Award grant of £167,400 (94%)

Migration Stories England

Project description: To upscale a previously successful project showcasing migration stories, sharing them through workshops and education and supporting creative participation from young people.

The Runner's Archive: The Story of Reebok and Running Clubs in Bolton

Project description: To record interviews and curate an exhibition and events programme about Bolton sports shoe manufacturers, local running clubs and athletes.

Exploring Intangible Cultural Heritage in the UK: Cultural Encounters - Celebrating Minority Heritages

Project description: To safeguard Irish, Cornish and Syrian heritage with a documentary film and online resources which will be co-produced with the community in workshops and activities.
