National Lottery Grants for Heritage – £10,000 to £250,000
Building on the Knowsley Heritage community grants programme, supported by the Heritage Fund, this project will develop and embed a sector-led Community of Practice for heritage across the towns and villages in Knowsley.
It will promote community leadership and ownership, rooting heritage in local communities. A heritage network will be established to encourage knowledge sharing.
The project is adopting a participatory budgeting approach, meaning that local communities are involved in the process of deciding how the money is spent.
It will support the individual projects in the heritage network to commission additional resources, specialist expertise and artists, and will signpost to additional funding streams to support collaborative heritage projects.
The innovative participatory budgeting within our delivery plan will enable us to extend the reach of heritage into our communities.
Racheal Jones, Chief Executive Officer at One Knowsley
By improving access to resources, skills, relationships and networks for the Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) groups, the project aims to support a sustainable approach to grassroot heritage development.
Racheal Jones, Chief Executive Officer at One Knowsley, said: “Heritage is powerful, it connects people, communities and place, it roots our past and enables us to imagine our ambitions for the future. The innovative participatory budgeting within our delivery plan will enable us to extend the reach of heritage into our communities in Knowsley through active VCFSE engagement and involvement.”
