National Lottery Grants for Heritage – £10,000 to £250,000
Few records currently exist that tell the histories of transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming (TNBGNC) communities across the UK.
This two-year project is set to change that by organising regular Sharing Socials with local TNBGNC people, that offer a supportive space for them to collectively share their stories.
The Sharing Socials will include creative workshops where participants can explore heritage through writing, music, art and film. This work will be showcased in a public exhibition entitled I Me Us, with accompanying activities for young people to get involved.
A professional filmmaker will capture the project for a documentary that will highlight the life and stories of those who have taken part. This will be screened at events held across Cumbria and made available online.
Once the project comes to an end, all physical and digital objects will be donated to Carlisle Libraries and Archives and Tullie House Museum where they will be preserved and shared for years to come.
