Role
Committee Member for England, London & South
Nick Holliday is an environmental scientist who has worked for over 30 years in central and local government.

His interest in heritage was ignited early in his career, with a first job surveying over 1000 miles of the canal system. He continued through working in the green spaces of the north-west and Yorkshire.

Various national roles led Nick south, looking after England's National Trails, and creating and running national grant programmes, such as Vital Villages. He has also been regional director for the south-west for both the Countryside Commission and the Countryside Agency.

More recently, Nick has been heavily involved in protected landscapes – Exmoor National Park and The Cotswolds. He served as a Secretary of State appointee, including spells as deputy chairman on both boards, and Chair of Exmoor Planning Committee.

He has served on two national environmental charities. The Campaign for National Parks – the original campaign body that brought about the creation of our national parks. Also, the National Association of AONBs (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty) – the parental body that represents all 46 AONBs in England and Wales.

Nick lives in the Cotswolds and is a keen runner, and advocate of parkrun – England's biggest mass health movement initiative.
