Wellingborough Stories

Applicant: Groundwork Northamptonshire

Project description: This project will uncover the diversity of Wellingborough’s community heritage through the collected stories of people who live or settled in the town since 1945.

Decision: Award £79,600 (74%)

 

Reunited: Understanding the context and legacy of the work of first generation South Asian artists.

Applicant: SADAA (South Asian Diaspora Arts Archive)

Project description: This project will highlight the achievements of the first generation of South Asian Diaspora writers, artist and performers in Britain and provide the social and political context of the period they were working in.

Decision: Award £58,400 (100%)

 

Birdfair Bounce Back

Applicant: Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust

Project description: This project is to develop the resilience of the Trust and the Birdfair and attract a more diverse audience to the event.

Decision: Defer for further information.

 

Hertford is my Home

Applicant: Hertford Museum

Project description: This project will create physical and online exhibitions to document the diverse communities that have settled in Hertford. Oral histories will be collected and a community event to celebrate different communitys’ traditions is planned.

Decision: Award £10,000 (90%)

 

SHARPening Our Tools to Open 'Digital Trenches'

Applicant: Sedgeford Historical & Archaeological Research Project

Project description: This project, will develop a digital archaeology learning platform and run a pilot short course. It aims to provide up to 250 participants with new skills and improve the resilience of this volunteer run charity by offering an alternative income stream to in-person courses.

Hidden Herefordshire – Discovering its Wildlife and Wild Places

Applicant: Cultivating Learning and Nature CIC

Project description: This project aims to engage people with and increase the recording of Herefordshire’s natural heritage. They will focus on recruiting young people and those from under-represented groups.

50 Years of Bangla Brummies

Applicant: Purbanat CIC

Project description: This project will record oral histories and share the history and culture of people from the Independent Bangla Movement from Birmingham in 1971. The project will celebrate 50 years of British Bangladeshi identity.

Decision: Award £72,400 (100%)

           

St Michael's Church Bell Restoration Project

Applicant: St. Michaels PCC Bishops Stortford

Project description: This project is to refurbish the ten bells of St Michael’s church, carry out repairs and building works to improve the church tower, and provide a programme of engagement activities.

Decision: Award £91,100 (34%)

 

Witchfinder

Applicant: Cohere Arts CIC

Project description: This arts based project will produce, perform and record a piece of immersive musical theatre called Witchfinder. It will also hold events and produce digital educational resources. The theatre piece is inspired by the stories of local witch hunters.

Stafford Heritage Ringing Centre

Applicant: Stafford (St Mary’s) Society of Change Ringers

Project description: This project will create a new interpretation and training centre for campanology within a Grade I Listed church.

Decision: Award £9,300 (88%)

 

Hidden Histories of Women's Community and Feminist Activism in Nottingham since 1970

Applicant: Nottingham Women's History Group

Project description: This project will transcribe oral histories and develop a website exploring the history of women’s activism in Nottingham.

Decision: Award £3,200 (94%)

 

Suffolk Pride 2021

Applicant: Suffolk Pride

Project description: This project will celebrate the heritage of LGBT+ communities in Suffolk by sharing their stories.

Decision: Award £9,700 (97%)

 

Mordiford's Dragon Trail

Applicant: Dormington and Mordiford Group Parish Council

Project description: This project aims to share the legend of the mystery dragon who was born and raised in Mordiford village. It will create a 2.8km circular trail through the village and surrounding areas to tell the story, whilst also highlighting wildlife and historical features.

Project description: This project will deliver a series of walks, talks and workshops to engage vulnerable people with natural heritage.

St Andrew Church - planning for the future - restore roof and organ, install lavatory and servery.

Project description: This project will repair and replace the roofs of the church, install a WC and servery, and restore the organ to enable concerts to take place in the future.

Sawley's Hidden Gem - King George III Royal Coat of Arms 1767

Applicant: Parish of Sawley

Project description: The project will restore a painting of the coat of arms of George III, dated 1767, that was recently discovered at the church. It will also produce research on the painting and the life of George III and hold educational visits and an exhibition on Sawley in the Georgian era.

Project description: This project will deliver works to St Edwards Hall, which houses Southwold Arts Centre and activities for school children.

Sustainable Flowers

Applicant: The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Holy Trinity Coventry

Project description: This project will improve flower arranging facilities in the church by installing shelving and a sink. Some of the church’s volunteers will also attend a sustainable flower arranging training course.

Project description: This project will celebrate the Nigerian heritage of their members in order to combat ‘vaccine hesitancy’ and the impact of COVID-19 within BAME communities.

Project description: This project aims to create a visitor centre at Abbey Station, a former terminus station for the Shropshire and Montgomery Railway. The station is located in Shrewsbury and dates back to 1865.
