Over the next year traditional conservation and green woodworking practices will be brought back to life as 16 to 25 year olds have the opportunity to uncover and practice often forgotten skills that were once a huge part of life for people in Bolton, focusing on the areas around the Bradshaw Brook Corridor. 

A key number of young people have helped to develop the project from the very beginning, which has opened up new opportunities for further young people to become involved. 

Apart from learning practical skills, young people will also have the opportunity to gain qualifications and lead on sharing their new-found knowledge and skills to other young people across Bolton via family days in the holidays.

The Trust is looking forward to the opportunity of working more closely with young people from Bolton Community College and staff at Bolton History Centre

Commenting on the award, Charlotte Yates who is co-ordinating the project, said: “It’s brilliant for our young people to be starting the project after all their hard work developing it over the months and thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund for supporting us! We’re also really looking forward to providing exciting practical opportunities to other young people in Bolton!” 

Regular group sessions for young people will be on Tuesdays and Fridays with additional family days throughout the year.
