Communities explored the impact and legacy of the First World War, the Battle of the Somme and the Easter Rising by creating two exhibitions.

Communities from Peckham came together to recreate a photograph of war horses destined for the Western Front.

Our funding supported the creation of an education and information centre within the Great Court of the Museum, allowing access to this space for the first time since the 1850s.

Our grant helped secure John Constable’s Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows for the nation.

A new extension was added to the museum’s Grade I-listed Cockerell building, providing conservation and teaching facilities, and expanding education and outreach services.

Our funding enabled the preservation and promotion of the John Murray Archive, a record of a 200-year-old publishing dynasty, considered one of the most important collections of 19th century thought and achievement.

This project helped revitalise the Royal Museum, transforming the public use of the building, while remaining sensitive to its original Victorian architecture.

Our grant provided for building conservation, with an endowment to support the estate in opening the house and grounds to a wider audience, and providing learning activities.

The Grade I listed building was repaired and renovated, bringing it up to operational standards for audiences and artists.

Communities across Hertfordshire explored their county’s experience of the First World War, engaging the public by creating an exhibition and website.

This project conserved and improved the auditorium, increasing access while preserving iconic design features.
