Our grant provided for building conservation, with an endowment to support the estate in opening the house and grounds to a wider audience, and providing learning activities.
Tyntesfield is a high-Victorian-gothic house and a working estate. The house is Grade I listed and a large part of the grounds are Grade II* listed.
Our funding supported an eight-year programme of works, including roof repair and providing visitor facilities such as car parks. It also helped to preserve and repurpose outbuildings for use as education and training spaces, as well as holiday accommodation for future income generation.
The endowment allowed the National Trust to improve physical access and interpretation of the estate, opening it up to new audiences, complemented by the three full-time staff dedicated to outreach and learning.
