Beautiful Binevenagh receives HLF support
The project will focus on Binevenagh and the Coastal Lowlands area, a stunning landscape in the north-west of Northern Ireland that includes sandy beaches, ancient woodland, maritime cliffs and blanket bogs.
The five-year project will bring together a range of organisations, agencies and groups to explore and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of the area. Local communities will be inspired to reconnect to the landscape by getting involved in activities including tour guiding, trail maintenance and community archaeology digs.

Opportunities to develop sustainable tourism will be explored to promote the area as a key destination for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities.
The Causeway Coast and Glens Heritage Trust will now fully develop the proposals in order to secure the full £2.8million grant requested.
Head of HLF Northern Ireland, Paul Mullan, said: “Binevenagh and the Coastal Lowlands is an area of breath-taking natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and untapped potential. We were impressed with these exciting proposals that put people right at the heart of this outstanding landscape, helping them to get involved in its future management, protection and use.
“Now, thanks to National Lottery players these outline plans can be fully developed to deliver a range of benefits for the heritage and the people who live, work and visit there.”
