This project is revitalising Northampton’s Grade II* listed country house and park by transforming disused buildings into a thriving community asset.

The Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust is restoring and repurposing the estate’s 19th-century stable block to create a vibrant mixed-use space for the whole community.

Dedicated spaces for wellbeing, retail, events and programmes will bring the stables back into use, preserving the buildings’ heritage and providing a sustainable future for the trust.

Alongside restoring the stables, the project will:

  • improve physical and psychological wellbeing by connecting people with nature and local history
  • provide work experience, volunteering and learning opportunities to boost skills, confidence and employability
  • support financially excluded communities to access the site through free events and workshops
  • create 42 permanent, full-time jobs

Robyn Llewellyn, Director of England, Midlands & East at The National Lottery Heritage Fund, said: “Thanks to National Lottery players the historic stable buildings will be saved and transformed into a community hub, building on our previous support for restoring and opening up Delapré Abbey for everyone to enjoy.

“The Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust’s plans will involve and benefit local people, from creating jobs to helping secure a sustainable future for the site and connecting people with natural heritage.”

Delapré Abbey hopes to open the stables to the public in Spring 2026. Find out more about A Stable Future.
