When Coventry becomes UK City of Culture 2021, its nature and green spaces will be placed centre stage thanks to National Lottery investment.

As with previous holders of the title, organisers are hoping being UK City of Culture will have a major impact on Coventry. By showcasing and engaging people with its diverse culture, the city hopes to attract business, investment and opportunity that will have a lasting impact.

"Our investment of funding from The National Lottery will ensure Coventry’s nature is front and centre of Coventry 2021, creating a lasting connection with the natural world.”

Now £3million funding - awarded in The National Lottery’s 25th Birthday year - will support Coventry City of Culture Trust’s plans to place the natural environment at the heart of its City of Culture programme to ensure it has a lasting green legacy.

The funding will enable the Trust to:

  • invest in initiatives that will protect and develop the city’s natural environment
  • promote health and wellbeing
  • develop a programme of events and activities in outdoor spaces and heritage locations
