The birthplace of the industrial revolution, the North of England is buzzing with thousands of years of history.
We're proud to support our communities to protect and celebrate the region’s irreplaceable heritage, from the cityscapes of Manchester to the stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales, the cultural history of Newcastle, through to the Lake District's natural beauty.

Funding
Our National Lottery Heritage Grants funding programme is open – if you have an idea for a project in the North of England, we would love to hear from you. Grants are available from £10,000 up to £10m.

Our regular online funding workshops and advice sessions are a great opportunity to:
- find out about our funding
- get tips on how to make a good application
- network with other organisations from your area

There is step-free access throughout the building, with a few low gradient ramps. There is lift access to three floors and adapted toilets on all levels. The downstairs accessible toilets have height adjusting sinks, rails and a hoist.

The Giz a Job project will support a group of volunteers to produce an in-depth ‘people’s history’ of the iconic march and the right to work movement.

Designed by Birmingham-based creative cartographer Tom Woolley, the map shows all 58 sites, cities and natural landscapes, helping to bring to life the huge variety of heritage on people’s doorsteps.
