The Midlands and East of England is steeped in rich heritage. The region is home to vibrant cities and cultural hubs, picturesque countryside and iconic waterways. Its varied history ranges from the birthplace of William Shakespeare to the industrial Black Country.

Funding
Our National Lottery Heritage Grants funding programme is open – if you have an idea for a project in the Midlands & East of England, we would love to hear from you. Grants are available from £10,000 up to £10m.

Our regular funding workshops and advice sessions are a great opportunity to:

- get tips on how to make a good application
- network with other organisations from your area

The building is wheelchair accessible. There is step-free access via the main entrance, lifts to every floor and a disabled refuge area on the stairs. There are accessible toilets on every floor. Accessible parking spaces are available on request.

The building is wheelchair accessible. There is step-free access via the main entrance on Snow Hill Queensway. There are lifts to all floors, including a platform lift from the ground floor to reception on the first floor. Lifts have a voice announcer and there is a hearing enhancement loop at reception. Accessible toilets are available.

Ironbridge Coracle Heritage
A small group of volunteers set out to preserve the last remaining coracle maker's workshop on the River Severn and started the Ironbridge Coracle Trust.

Diss Heritage Triangle & Diss Corn Hall
Diss Town Council led on a project to regenerate the town’s Heritage Triangle, with the historic Corn Hall at its centre.

Volunteers monitor and research the South Pennine Moors and Dark Peak
This citizen science project involved local people collecting vital information on upland peat landscapes while learning habitat monitoring skills.

Victoria Park Primary Academy - Memories of spice in Smethwick
The role of spices in shaping local culture, cuisine and customs has been captured thanks to a community history project in Smethwick, Sandwell in the West Midlands.

Volunteers and school children used archaeological techniques to discover the lost heritage of Abberley, Worcestershire.

Funding to acquire and preserve a 17th-centure Grade II listed cottage in Helpston near Peterborough, where the poet John Clare was born.
