Caroline worked with the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England between 2003-2020 and held roles in fundraising and programme and project management. She was responsible for delivering the historic separation of the Commission into the English Heritage Trust and Historic England in 2015. Caroline then established and led the first Historic England Partnerships and Philanthropy Team, raising £5.8million in funding towards a variety of projects connected with Heritage at Risk, the Archive, skills and apprenticeships.
Caroline is Interim Chair of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, having been a Commissioner since 2016. In this role she helps advise and steer the Commission’s work to ensure that the precious and irreplaceable heritage of Wales is recorded, understood, protected and enhanced. Caroline was Chair of the Commission’s Corporate Governance Committee between 2017-24.
Caroline holds an MPhil in Archaeological Heritage Management from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Philanthropic Studies from the University of Kent. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and her home is in Monmouth.
