Maria is based in our London office. She has worked at the Heritage Fund since 2002.

What does your role involve?

Making sure our offices are safe and compliant. I organise IT equipment for new starters or any staff that have specialist needs discovered during an occupational health referral. My team and I also help when we move offices. I have recently started working with budgets too, which is good, as I love learning new things.

What do you enjoy about working here?

I enjoy learning new things every day. I don’t have the same day twice, which I love.

What motivates you at work?

I come into contact with a lot of people in my role. I really enjoy that interaction and doing a good job for my colleagues. The Heritage Fund has also supported me in my recent Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management diploma, which took four years to complete. It has helped me get a thorough understanding of the facilities management world and I am already taking on new tasks as a result.

What’s the highlight of your time at the Heritage Fund?

Watching the transformation of the organisation. We have been through such a lot over 20 years, such as our big transition to hybrid working. We had to change our mindset and embrace that change. I was heavily involved making sure our staff had all the kit they needed to perform their work safely and easily at home. It was very challenging but a huge achievement.

What’s your favourite type of heritage?

I love churches, but I would have to say community projects. Anything that allows people to give back and enrich the local community.
