Blaenau Gwent Flourish and Thrive

Applicant: Tai Calon Community Housing

Project description: This project is part of an overall woodland and green spaces strategy that Tai Calon have developed. Blaenau Gwent is one of the most deprived areas in Wales. This project will transform unused areas of land into thriving food growing hubs.

Decision: Award grant of £249,910 (100%)

Restoring Plas Gunter Gardens

Applicant: Plas Gunter Mansion Trust cyf

Project description: To reunite Plas Gunter Mansion with the land which was once its gardens for the benefit of everyone in the community. The land, which is currently unused, will be restored as a place for nature.

Decision: Award grant of £250,000 (87%)

Hwb y Gors Community Garden

Applicant: Awel Aman Tawe

Project description: This project will develop the former school playground at the new low-carbon community hub: Hwb y Gors (HyG) into a green community space with a focus on biodiversity, positive mental health, food growing and wildlife habitats.

Decision: Award grant of £99,821 (35%)

The Hafod Garden Park

Applicant: Coastal Housing Group Limited

Project description: This project will create an innovative outdoor Garden Park adjacent to Hafod Primary School in Swansea. This new venture aims to transform an urban space into a thriving permaculture vegetable farm and an interactive outdoor workshop.

Decision: Reject

Cwm Saerbren Community Nature Reserve

Applicant: WtoW Ltd ( Welcome to our Woods Ltd)

Project description: To restore nature in the Cwm Saerbren and to bring the SSSI under good management by removing invasive species and managing the grassland.

Decision: Reject

Penarth Town Council Adopt A Raised Bed Scheme

Applicant: Penarth Town Council

Project description: This project aims to repurpose and redevelop an outdoor space to increase the provision of growing space and access to growing space within the town. The space would contain a number of raised beds that would form an "adopt-a-raised-bed" scheme.

Decision: Reject

Brynawel's Recovery Village: Community Food Growing Hub, Wildflower Meadow and Community Meeting Building.

Applicant: Brynawel House Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centre LTD

Project description: The project will provide a community growing space, including building an indoor meeting space, for the community to learn skills that will enable them to reclaim and sustain their heritage. A community building, “The Nature Nook”, will provide rooms for meetings and training.

Decision: Reject

Growing Wild

Applicant: The Elemental Adventures project cic

Project description: This project aims to create a community food growing space in the form of a forest/permaculture garden (a Forage Forest) and is part of a bigger plan to offer more services to a wider demographic area.

Decision: Reject

Hubberston Green

Applicant: Hubberston and Hakin Hands Together Ltd

Project description: The project will preserve and enhance a small parcel of "glebeland" by implementing a plan to encourage plant species diversity, general biodiversity of invertebrate species and roosting of bats.

Decision: Award grant of £87,000 (100%)

Fferm Cymunedol Tir Y Ffynnon Community Farm

Applicant: Ffynnone Community Resilience C.I.C

Project description: Fferm Cymunedol Tir Y Ffynnon Community Farm will enhance food security and nature recovery and empower the whole community to take part in creating their food future by developing a network of existing and new food producers, ancillary providers, community, local organisations and statutory bodies.

Decision: Reject

Restore Nature and Engage People – Nature Retreat Centre

Applicant: Small Woods Association

Project description: This project will work with those in need to create a nature and biodiversity retreat centre to support engagement and learning across generations and inspire people to take care of nature in an immersive setting.
