The Valence House Museum received a grant of £1,843,000 to enhance the Grade II* building and its surroundings, improve access, and create learning and involvement activities as well as new resources.

The project involved demolishing an old council depot and re-landscaping the site to re-unite Valence House with its original parkland. Conservation work to the listed building fabric has ensured the long term sustainability of the house. A visitor centre was built housing education facilities, café and an archives and local Studies Centre.
