Our Heritage
The IABF's project focused on achieving wider awareness and engagement with the work of the author of A Clockwork Orange in Manchester, the city of Burgess' birth, where the full range of his work had previously been under-explored.
The project catalogued, digitised and made available to the public the IABF’s extensive and valuable collection of books, music, manuscripts, photographs, audio recordings and papers. The project employed a professional archivist to undertake essential conservation work, and to deliver a programme of public activities.
Activities delivered as part of the project included the screening of three rare documentaries presented by Burgess, a variety of events for the public and free talks and tours of the collection. These introductory events were complimented by regular in-depth lectures and discussion sessions around both the literary and musical aspects of Burgess' work.
