Scottish Traveller history was explored through the eyes of a group of young Travellers based in Aberdeen during the winter months.
Young Travellers worked with local artists to document their own, and their families’ stories, which were then turned into an audio visual animation and printed books.
The participants learned more about their heritage and developed skills in research, interpretation, IT, and creative arts. Knowing that the stories they collected would be preserved for generations to come provided a sense of pride in their abilities and their culture.
Aberdeen City Council said it took time to build trust with the Travellers, but this ensured the creative outputs were authentic and true to the individuals who took part, and the wider Traveller community.
