This two-year project was designed to involve and engage the local community of Pontypool with their local area.
The project provided the opportunity to collect oral history and historic materials, capturing the memories of people who can describe the changing landscape of Pontypool over the last 60 years.
Original documents, photographs and film were recorded and copied as part of the project, providing access to historic materials for future generations. All of the materials will be stored at the museum for the benefit of the whole community.
Volunteers received training and were involved in researching local archives and engaging local community groups. Those involved in the project were able to learn about their local town, focusing on the historical development of Pontypool and the many changes that have taken place over the years.
