The history of Odsal Stadium – home to the Bradford Bulls – was protected for future generations as part of this project.

West Yorkshire Archives Service and Huddersfield University worked in partnership with the Bradford Bulls Foundation to deliver the three-year heritage project, which focused on the stadium’s key role in the sporting, cultural and social history of Bradford.

The project focused on locally important heritage, exploring the many sporting and community events that happen in the stadium. The project involved research into, and conservation of, artefacts and archive material, as well as the collection of personal memories and memorabilia.

Research particularly focused on the period from the stadium’s construction in 1934 to 1966 – the year that the stadium re-emerged in local community activities after fallow years in the early 1960s.

Local people, including school children, university students, and history societies, were involved in the project, documenting historical artefacts, learning state-of-the-art archiving techniques and recording memories relating to the stadium’s history.
