The project involved researching and recording the history of the Palace Theatre and the people who have worked in it.
Both young and older people from the local community created various projects about the history of the theatre and presented them through a range of artistic activities.
The Palace Theatre, Newark, is a listed building, and a monumne to the changes in tastes of the British public in the 20th century. It was built by one of Nottingham’s first female entrepreneurs, Emily Blagg, in 1920. As a theatre it has seen performers such as Pavlova, George Robey, and Sir Donald Wolfit.
The project focused on heritage items and information involving the building, the changes of use, and the people who have worked there or who have been instrumental in the changes.
