The project focused on developing the East Midlands section of the National Byway route, a 3,300 mile cycling route that links up heritage sites around England and parts of Scotland and Wales.

Plans included developing a signposted cycling route, which visits 113 heritage sites. The signposts guide cyclists through woodlands, Rockingham Forest, the wolds of Leicestershire and Lincolnshire and the vale of the River Trent in Nottinghamshire.

The project also involved marketing the East Midlands National Byway though the publication and promotion of an informative map.
