National Lottery Grants for Heritage – £3,000 to £10,000
Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, The RED Archive CIC are now proud owners of a recently-refurbished touring caravan. Thanks to a grant of nearly £10,000 – made possible by National Lottery players – they’ve been able to take it on the road.
They have been travelling around Merseyside, showcasing how football can bring communities together and instil a sense of local pride amongst fans.
The funding has enabled a new ‘fan’s bedroom’ display within the caravan, based on nostalgic images from their archive. The images have been donated by fans spanning a time period between the 1960s and 1990s.
The RED Archive is also using the tour to expand their collection. Fans will have opportunities to record their own memories, or take part in more sessions to add to the exhibition’s treasured memorabilia.
Showcasing diverse fan stories
Partner venues for the tour will help the project reach a wider demographic and work towards diversifying their archive material. The RED Archive want to include more stories of fans from under-served groups, such as ethnically diverse communities and disabled people. The tour has also visited a prison and a local foodbank.
