Llanelli LGBTQ+ Support have held events and activities to recognise and share the rich heritage of the town's LGBT+ community.

Llanelli LGBTQ+ Support is a group that has been set up celebrate, learn about and inform the public about the role that the LGBT+ community has played in the town’s history.

The group is collecting stories of experiences of LGBT+ people in Llanelli, recorded and shared as online articles and films.

The National Lottery-funded history project saw the group stage the first ever heritage LGBT+ event in Llanelli, tying in with LGBT+ History Month in 2020.

The project is allowing the group to build on their work with Pride Cymru and Stonewall, and make new partnerships with National LGBT+ organisations.

During LGBT+ History Month 2021 a number of virtual events have been taking place. These include a talk about Pride Cymru’s virtual exhibition Icons and Allies, a practical guide to researching LGBT+ history, and coffee get-togethers with an opportunity to learn more about the town’s LGBT+ heritage.

The group’s overall aim is to reach out more widely to discover more of Llanelli’s LGBT+ stories and experiences so that they can be preserved for current and future generations.
