The Museum of London has one of the largest urban history collections in the world, and this project has helped re-design and re-furbish them for future audiences.

The Museum of London in the City of London documents the history of the capital, from prehistoric to modern times, and contains over a million objects.

This project has led to the refurbishment of 3,714 square metres of floor space, including the lower galleries and the learning centre. A new City Gallery features large street level windows along London Wall and provides an illuminated showcase for the Lord Mayor’s State Coach, which takes to the streets each November for the Lord Mayor’s Show.

The project also conserved and restored around 7,000 items, and the museum has invested in cataloguing and digitising their collection. This process has taken the number of objects available to view online from 6,200 to over 9,000.

To display the museum’s collections, 37 audio-visual and interactive installations have been created. Amongst this number is a miniature cinema playing historic films and newsreels, and a large touch screen to explore an 18th-century map of London.
