Norwich is home to the largest collection of medieval churches in Northern Europe. This project shared their stories with new audiences through a three day, city-wide event.

Twenty eight Norwich parish churches and the Anglican cathedral put on a wide range of medieval-themed events, including music, dance, art, talks, tours and craft activities. Trails and an exhibition were created to connect the different churches across the city and help visitors find out more about the heritage on their doorstep.

Having lived here for 30 years, I have learned so much – it's been brilliant.

Around 70 volunteers were recruited to act as hosts, signposters and guides, with an estimated further 47 with partner organisations taking part. There were up to 5,600 visitors, with one tweeting after taking part: “Having lived here for 30 years, I have learned so much – it's been brilliant.”

The Trust is using the project to inform its future business planning, shape its capital projects programme and encourage continued community involvement and learning.
