Three hundred school children across East Anglia became Vikings for three days when they learnt about life during Viking times.

Classroom-based sessions and a visit to West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village immersed the children in daily Viking life. They made a Viking meal in a cooking pot over a fire, used Viking tools and learnt Viking crafts whilst hearing about impending battles through role-play and storytelling.

The children shared their experiences with their families by holding an exhibition where they displayed artwork, stories, photos and artefacts.

"Wonderful experience! As parents, we have learnt so much from Charlie. He taught us how the Vikings did their ironing using whale bones. Fantastic!"
