Mansfield Museum is a local authority museum run by Mansfield District Council, Nottinghamshire.

The environment gallery at Mansfield Museum has been extended, and its heritage made more accessible to the public.

Mansfield Museum is run by the local authority, Mansfield District Council in Nottinghamshire. Its environment gallery aims to widen knowledge and understanding of local heritage through an interactive learning experience, and the museum wanted to bring this heritage to a wider audience.

As a result of this project, the museum has adopted a more child-centred approach. Through ensuring that young visitors have a fun and engaging experience of heritage, the museum hopes that this audience will continue to visit and engage with heritage in the future.

As part of the project, a new environment gallery was created, and the museum set up a dedicated website for the gallery.

The website features games and files for download, including activity sheets and colouring templates. School groups can use the website, and incorporate it into IT lessons externally.

The website is still maintained, and there are interactive multimedia displays throughout the gallery that make use of audio-visual technology.
