This project saw the creation of a series of mini accessible and sensory-rich interpretation guides to the outdoor landscape of the clay trails in mid Cornwall.

The clay trails showcase the heritage of the china clay industry in the local area, and feature working mines and claypits.

The accessible guides use the plants and features of the clay trails to tell the stories of the local community, as well as the area’s industrial and domestic heritage.

The Sensory Trust used sensory mapping and community events to engage local disabled people in identifying local heritage highlights and the stories behind them, as well as ensuring the guide is accessible and engaging for all.

The series includes downloadable sensory heritage guides focusing on different disabilities, as well as an app. They highlight the trails as a destination for locals and visitors, and share the history of the local area with current and future users and generations.
