The Grimsay Boatshed and Am Bàta received a Skills for the Future grant to provide traditional boatbuilding workshops to local schools.

The project involved young people building and repairing small boats and learning about local styles and traditions.

Across the Minch provides progression to in-depth training aimed at local young people interested in boatbuilding and repair as a career. Four two-year training posts are underway at the Boatshed and Am Bàta. Two one-year posts in oral history training in Plockton have now been completed and the excellent work compiled by Colin Parsons and Fergus Walker is displayed on the project website.
