Mike has spent the last 18 years working in heritage as director of four museums championing heritage as a potential force for good.

Mike spent the first 28 years of his working life in the steelworks on Teesside before becoming Director of Ryedale Folk Museum. He then became Director of Bede's World, interim Director at The National Coal Mining Museum for England and is currently Director of The Scottish Crannog Centre. Following the devastating fire in which the crannog was destroyed, Mike is overseeing The Crannog Centre’s move to Dalerb on the north side of Loch Tay.
