Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum wins Heritage Lottery Fund award

Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum wins Heritage Lottery Fund award

Won in competition with other supportable projects, the Round 1 grant of £64,600 to conserve the main museum building, redesign displays and improve storage and work areas, is a vital step forward for the Museum’s development plans.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has recognized that these plans, allowing the Cottage Museum to complete the design work required for a Round 2 Heritage Lottery Fund application, have the potential to deliver high quality benefits and value in return for Lottery money.

If successful, additional provision of long-needed storage and workspace at the rear of the Cottage Museum will be possible. The life of its rare, pre-fabricated, 126 year old Boulton and Paul corrugated iron bungalow will be extended. There will be improved opportunities for community learning, conservation of artefacts and further public access to the Cottage Museum’s photographic archive and library; recent additions to which include the Woodhall Spa Urban District Council records and those of the Spa Baths Trust.

David Radford, Chairman of the Cottage Museum Board, commented: "This achievement is the result of countless unpaid hours of teamwork by Cottage Museum volunteers and in particular the Development Committee chaired by Rodger Pickavance. Many challenges still lie ahead, but this award of a Round 1 Grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund shows the confidence it has in the Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum and its work to look after and share the heritage of a unique Lincolnshire Spa with the wider community."
