South East England is next stop for new HLF Chair
Starting at Chatham Historic Dockyard he’ll then move onto the picturesque Ranscombe Farm and other key sites around Medway.
On the South East visit, Sir Peter will:
Take a tour of Chatham Historic Dockyard and meet some of the people behind the project. He’ll meet a specialist rope maker and have a go at this traditional craft himself. Sir Peter will also see how the Command of the Oceans project is progressing
Walk around the beautiful wildflower-rich Ranscombe Farm – which received a £550,900 grant to restore and revive this important landscape
Tour Rochester Cathedral and find out about the Hidden Treasures project
Explore the Huguenot Museum which recently reopened following renovation
It’s an exciting time for HLF. As well as welcoming Sir Peter to the team, we’re also celebrating our 21st birthday this year and of course continuing to fund a wide range of heritage projects across the UK. To date, thanks for money raised by National Lottery players, we’ve invested £709million that has helped preserve and share heritage across the South East.
The South East marks the fourth stop on Sir Peter’s visit to all 12 regions and countries stretching right across the UK. He’s already been to Scotland, Yorkshire and the Humber, and the East Midlands. Next up is the East of England.
