Shaw Trust website accreditation

Shaw Trust website accreditation

Heritage Lottery Fund is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience. To that end, we engaged the services of Shaw Trust – a national charity working with disabled and disadvantaged people to support them into employment.

Shaw Trust’s Website Accessibility Accreditation Service offered HLF a fully comprehensive web accessibility audit. A stringent technical assessment was conducted by Shaw Trust’s in-house auditors, as well as more than 60 hours of testing by disabled web users.

In order to receive an award, the HLF website needed to adhere to a rigorous set of criteria, as influenced by the industry-standard Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

The Heritage Lottery Fund website can now boast some of the following advantages:

  • Skip navigation links
  • Logical and consistent navigation
  • Clearly written content
  • Alternative text for all images
  • Text transcripts for audio and video content
