Our new weekly polls are a quick way to tell us your thoughts and instantly see what the rest of the sector thinks too.

Today we’re launching Instant Pulse, a new quickfire series of questions we’ll be posing over the summer. It’s part of our UK Heritage Pulse research project.

The new weekly polls are open to anyone in the UK heritage sector and will give us – and you – insight on a range of priorities for heritage.

If you manage or support any type of heritage in the UK, we want to hear from you.

We want to hear your quickfire thoughts on some topics of vital importance to the sector at this time

Tom Walters, Head of Research, Data and Insight at the Heritage Fund

How it works

Starting today, each Wednesday we’ll pose a question which is designed to ‘open the floor’ so you can give us your opinion on a topic of the week. You’ll use a sliding scale to tell us how much you agree or disagree. Once you’ve submitted your answer, you’ll see the results to date from the rest of the sector instantly.

There’s also a space to leave free text comments to expand on your response.

Sign up to UK Heritage Pulse to get the questions delivered direct to your inbox each week. Or follow us on Twitter, where we’ll post the questions each Wednesday and share the final results each Friday.

Tom Walters, Head of Research, Data and Insight at the Heritage Fund, said: “We had great feedback and insight from the first UK Heritage Pulse survey and this is already influencing plans for the next year at the Heritage Fund, our partners and collaborators.

“Now we want to hear your quickfire thoughts on some topics of vital importance to the sector at this time. Our new weekly polls are designed to be short and simple – it’ll only take a minute to share your response, and then you’ll instantly see how the rest of the sector has answered. We look forward to seeing what you think about some key heritage challenges and opportunities.”

Invaluable insight

UK Heritage Pulse is our collaborative research project gathering views from across the sector. Your invaluable insight will be used to shape the future of heritage funding and strategy at the Heritage Fund, and our partner organisations.

Our first major survey ran from 4–27 February 2022. We learned that heritage organisations have a positive financial and strategic outlook, but concerns remain over staffing and the uncertainty of the economic climate. Explore more of the findings.

Instant Pulse is a way for us to keep in touch with the sector between major surveys, and ensure that everything we do is grounded in the views and experience of those working in heritage.

Join us

We are particularly keen to grow the UK Heritage Pulse panel in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. By increasing the number of members from the devolved nations – and from the full breadth of heritage types that make up our great sector – we can build a panel that is representative of our reach.
