The search is on for a champion to help protect, enhance and share their local heritage and decide where to invest National Lottery funding.

Could you help shape the future of Yorkshire and the Humber’s heritage?

HLF has a vacancy for a committee member to decide on funding for the heritage that is so loved by local people and visitors alike. The successful candidate would join fellow decision-makers to help us to open up our heritage for everyone to enjoy. Yorkshire and the Humber has a vibrant heritage – from its museums, collections, parks and landscapes, historic environment, archives, industrial heritage, archaeology to cultural histories and community memories – and HLF supports projects of every kind.

The Committee meets four times a year and takes decisions on applications between £100,000 and £2million. They also provide a crucial local perspective on requests for larger grants and targeted initiative decisions which come before the UK Board. Members will have opportunities to meet inspiring people involved in projects and will also represent HLF at openings and events, acting as a champion for the value of heritage to modern life.

HLF support in Yorkshire and the Humber has supported a vast array of projects over the past 21 years, investing over £470m to nearly 3,300 heritage projects which have supported and contributed to communities, regeneration, tourism and the economy and which have helped to look after and open up our heritage for everyone to enjoy.

We welcome interest from people with a range of backgrounds and experiences who can demonstrate that they can apply their skills to, and have enthusiasm for, this role.

The role offers an interesting and wonderful personal development opportunity which has provided some of our younger members with transferable skills to help further their careers.
