New website to help our parks to prosper

New website to help our parks to prosper

Barnes Parks in Sunderland
This week a new website was launched to help public parks and green spaces increase their funding opportunities.

HLF, The Land Trust and Big Lottery Fund have created this new website, called Prosperous Parks, to help the owners, managers and users of parks and green spaces explore innovative ways of generating income.

Like many public services, parks often rely on local authority funding to ensure they are managed and maintained to a high standard. The Parks Summit in October 2012 showed that non-statutory services like parks will need to find imaginative, new and innovative ways of generating income for maintenance funding in the future.

The Prosperous Parks website features a variety of projects and ideas that aim to help generate funding opportunities. It also includes case studies from previous funded projects, which share good practice and ways to overcome issues with generating income.

Some of the funding opportunities highlighted on the Prosperous Parks website include:

  • Advertising
  • Sponsorship
  • Events
  • Concessions
  • Renewable energy
  • Asset realisation
  • Rents
  • Ecosystem services

If you have any examples of funding ideas or projects you can share with others, whether funded by the lottery or not, then please email hello@prosperousparks.com

You can also subscribe to the Prosperous Parks newsletter or follow them on Twitter.
